Cisco VPN client on Windows 8
I recently installed Cisco VPN client on Windows 8. Everything was OK until I tried to connect, than I was getting this:
Error 442: Failed to Enable Virtual Adapter
To fix this you need to do this :
- Open Registry editor (Win + R, type “regedit”, return or run)
- Browse to the Registry Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\CVirtA
- Select the DisplayName to modify
- Remove the leading characters from the value data upto “%;”
- For x86 something like “
@oem8.inf,%CVirtA_Desc%;Cisco Systems VPN Adapter” - For x64 something like “
@oem8.inf,%CVirtA_Desc%;Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for 64-bit Windows”
- For x86 something like “
- Try connecting again
I found the solution here.
